Gus Downing is the CEO and Founder of
Downing & Downing, Inc. He has built
this search and consulting firm into
North America's leading provider of
retail Loss Prevention staffing
solutions. He is a second-generation
retail Loss Prevention & Safety
Recruiting and Consulting executive and
spent thirteen years in the retail Loss
Prevention industry prior to starting
this firm in 1983. He is an accomplished
speaker and author and has dedicated his
career to the improvement and
enhancement of the retail Loss
Prevention industry. He is a graduate of
Lakeland College with a degree in
political science.

Gus has been involved in a number of
other successful business ventures - in
1988 he introduced computer-based
interactive training to the retail Loss
Prevention industry through his company
Retail Training Technologies.

Karl
served the Loss Prevention industry for
eleven years before joining the Downing
& Downing team as an executive search
consultant. Karl’s Loss Prevention
career encompasses grocery, discount
department stores, and specialty retail
where he has held store and regional
positions with both regional and
national retailers. He has also been a
part of successful safety driven Loss
Prevention Programs.

Gordon Smith served the Loss Prevention
industry for seventeen years before
returning to the Downing & Downing team
as an Executive Search Consultant.
Gordon's career in Loss Prevention
covers discount and full-line department
stores, membership warehouse and
specialty retail formats, and attaining
positions from District, Regional, and
Director of Security Services. Gordon
holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Criminal Justice from Edinboro
University of Pennsylvania, was a former
Certified Protection Professional (CPP),
and he also proudly served with the U.S.
Army's Military Police.

Mark served the Loss Prevention
industry for 8
years before
joining the Downing & Downing
team as an executive search
consultant. Mark's career in
Loss Prevention covers grocery,
large box and discount
department stores where he has
held store and district
investigative positions with
regional and national retailers.
He has partnered with non profit
organizations to raise funds and
awareness for the communities he
has worked in.
